Becoming

Scriptures – Acts 2:41-47, James 1:22-24

Reflections: The Great 50 Days is the time in the church year between Easter and Pentecost. During this time we remember that the Risen Christ was with the disciples and is with us. It is a time to focus on what it means to share the Good News of God and to be in ministry in the world.

So, who is God calling us to be and what is God calling us to do?

What can Blaine do for the Great 50 Days?

Throughout Lent, we’ve been invited to listen to who God is calling us to be and what God is calling us to do.

This is a space to share the thoughts and ideas. Feel free to list your ideas. If you see ideas that you like or are interested in, please comment on those as well.

Starting after Easter, we hope to put some of these into action!

Reflections: God is calling us…but…

What are our excuses? What are our hesitations? What are our fears? Ask God to hold them and take them away. Ask God for courage!

Reflections: God calls all of us as individuals and as a community. God grants dreams and visions. What are some of your dreams and visions of and for Blaine? Get specific! The sky is the limit!

Prayer Triad Week 3 – Listening For God

Scriptures: 1 Kings 19:9-13, Zechariah 2:13, Mark 6:45-47, Lamentations 3:21-28

Reflections:
God comes to us in the silence. We can’t hear God if we are talking or crowding our life with noise and activity. It is not about us, but about God alone. This week, sit together in silence and hold Blaine in God’s light. If distraction comes, recognize it, let it go, and return to the silence.

Clearing Space
Scriptures – Psalm 51:1-17, Joel 2:12-14
Reflections:
We must clear space for newness to come – we do it in our gardens, in our homes in the spring, and we must do it within ourselves as well. We must clear out all that clouds our vision and hearing God. What is Blaine’s junk? What needs to be cleared out so that we can see and hear God together? How has Blaine been neglectful of God and community? What has been your role in the neglect?

During Lent, Blaine Memorial folks have agreed to meet in groups of three to pray for the church. We will listen deeply to God during these 6 weeks, seeking to listen to who God is calling us to be and what God is calling us to do. All triads are encouraged to post a response each week to create a community conversation.

Week 1 – Thanksgiving
Scripture – Psalm 136

Reflection Questions:
How has God been good to us at Blaine? What do we have to be thankful for? What have you learned about God through being at Blaine?
