1. Hold These Truths: The Journey of Gordon Hirabayashi by Jeanne Sakata
July 31 – August 3
Pacific Northwest premiere, ACT’s Allen Theatre in Seattle – a one-man solo show inspired by the true story of first generation Japanese-American Gordon Hirabayashi with Joel de la Fuente, directed by Lisa Rothe.

2. FROM HIROSHIMA TO HOPE
Remembering Victims of Violence and Offering Prayers of Peace
Wednesday, August 6 – 6 pm at Green Lake
You are invited to this lantern-floating ceremony honoring victims of the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and all victims of violence.
Location is south of the Bathhouse Theater at W. Green Lake Drive N and Stone Way.
6 pm  Gathering, lantern calligraphy, meditation, picnicking, music;
7 pm  Family Program;
8:30 pm  Toro Nagashi, Lantern Floating Ceremony.
Free and Open to the public.  The committee is looking for volunteers –

1. Elle Flute Trio – WORSHIP – SUNDAY, JULY 27
Please join us in joint service in the Sanctuary on Sunday, July 27th at 10:00am. The Elle Flute Trio, comprised of: Lisa Hedley, Lisa Hirayama, and Linda Sebenius, will be providing music throughout this worship service.

2. Asian Pacific Islander Blood Drive and Bone Marrow Registration Event 
Saturday, July 26th – 8am to 2pm, Blaine Memorial UMC
In remembrance of its founder, Ed Wong, let us join together in this effort to provide blood and possible marrow matches for special types found in Asian Pacific Islander persons. Please call 206-721-3630 ext 158 or email jwong@kinon.org to make an appointment for this most important service to persons in need.

3. Our July Collection for Atlantic Street Center
Our July and August Monthly Collection will be for Atlantic Street Center. Items needed are Back to School supplies: pens, pencils, pink pearl erasers, rulers, pencil pouches, lined paper (college and wide ruled) markers, colored pencils, crayons, folders, composition books, back packs, scissors, construction paper, Glue (Elmer’s and glue sticks).

Please leave your donations in the trunks in the Narthex or Lee Activity Center by August 31. Thank you for your continued support.

Shelter 1 (western edge of park)

Come join us as we worship, fellowship, play and enjoy the sun-shiny day…There will be children’s games and fun for all ages! And though there are a few benches for eating, there is also lots of shade, so please bring your lawn chairs and blankets. We will barbecue and provide drinks for all…

we would ask folks to bring…  (by last name)
A- I ….. salads/fruit
J -Q….. desserts, etc.
S – Z ….. chips/appetizers

REMINDER… and please pass the word…
There will be NO worship services at Blaine Memorial tomorrow, July 20th.
Worship services at the picnic will start at 10 am.

Duvall will become Coal Creek Pkwy

Please allow for seniors and those with ambulatory issues to park their cars in the Lake Boren parking lot. Additional parking is available along SE 84th and on adjacent side streets. Please drive up and drop your picnic stuff off, and then proceed to find nearby parking.

There will be no worship services at Blaine Memorial on that Sunday.

1. VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL
This week our children will spend a week imaging and building with God in this year’s Workshop of Wonder
Please keep our leaders, teachers and children in prayer for a fun filled week of learning and making new friends.

2. CHURCH PICNIC - SUNDAY, JULY 20
Join us for some great food and fellowship as we gather this Sunday at Lake Boren in Newcastle.
Service will be held at Lake Boren, 10am.
