Lent is a 40 day season of self-examination and renewal. It is a time when we reflect on our lives and open ourselves to new spiritual practices that shape what we do and transform our world. In response to the tragedy at Newtown, CT, many have asked the question Why? and together we have been wrestling with changes we can make both personally and communally. This Lent, Adam Hamilton’s book Why? Making Sense of God’s Will will guide us into deeper reflection. The book will be available for purchase at church on February 17 and a kindle version is also available. Lent begins Wednesday, February 13 and we look forward to seeing you as we explore the following themes in worship for the month of February:
Ash Wednesday, February 13 at Noon and 7:00pm. A meditative service with the imposition of ashes.
Sunday, February 17 at 9:30am and 11:00am Why ask Why? Is it okay to question God’s will? How do we understand God’s will in today’s complex world?
Sunday, February 24 at 9:30am and 11:00am Why Do the Innocent Suffer?
