FEBRUARY MONTHLY COLLECTION
This month we will be collecting items for the Family & Adult Service Center which has been helping the homeless since 1966.  It is funded primarily by private contributions.  In King County alone, an estimated 8,300 people are homeless each night, many struggling with mental illness, chronic medical problems or substance abuse which prevents them from staying employed.  The Family & Adult Service Center exists to offer shelter, services, support and hope 365 days a year.

Needs:
    New socks   Canned soup
    Bath & wash towels  Coffee
    Shampoo, deodorant, soap Sugar

Please leave your donations in the collection trunks in the Narthex or LAC by February 28.   Thank you for your continued support of our monthly collection programs.         Yasu Okubo, Coordinator

PRAYER CLASSES
You are welcome to drop in to any of Rev. Kathleen’s classes on prayer – what is prayer; how do you do it; does God listen and answer; is there only one way to pray?  If you have any of these questions, please join the classes for 45 minutes of talking and reflecting on our own experiences and then 45 minutes of exploring different ways to pray.  It is not necessary to attend all classes.
Remaining classes are scheduled for:
 Sundays:  February 7, 12:30 to 2:00 pm
 Mondays: February, 8, and 15, 10:00 to 11:30 am

SANCTUARY/KONO CHAPEL FACE LIFT – NEED YOUR INPUT
Administrative Board has approved a study for a Face Lift (improvements) of the Sanctuary and Kono Chapel.  The Committee members ( Jerry Ikegami, Marianne Tada, Joe Sasaki, Jonathan Tong, Daphne Yamauchi and George Yates) welcome your input throughout January and February.  Final report with recommendations and rough cost estimates will be submitted to the Ad Board for further considerations.

NORTHWEST NIKKEI CONFERENCE – APRIL 9-11
This year’s Nikkei Conference is set for April 9-11 hosted by Epworth UMC in Portland, OR.  Please mark the dates on your calendar.  At last year’s conference, it was decided that the conference will be dissolved in 2011 with the closing ceremony to be held at Blaine Memorial in Seattle.  The Portland conference, then, will be the last regular gathering.  Your presence will be greatly appreciated – save the dates!  Kenji Onishi
