SUMMER AT BLAINE 2009 – ONE WORSHIP AT 10:00 AM
Join us as we take the best of both worlds, the worship styles of both Sanctuary and Summit and blend them together this summer. Miah Cawley, Sanctuary choir director and Satch Schulze, new Summit worship leader, will work together in conjunction with Rev. Dave and Rev. Kathleen to bring a meaningful, blended style worship as we journey together this summer. Our joint/blended services will occur from 10:00 am-11:00 am Sundays starting July 5 thru September 6. Despite hectic summer schedules, we hope that you will make worship at Blaine a priority for you and your family. A one-room church school will be offered every Sunday this summer following a children’s time in worship.

VBS VOLUNTEERS NEEDED – JULY 13-17
Volunteers are needed to help make VBS a success. Last year over 75 youth participated during the week-long camp. In order to have VBS this year, we need adults to help staff the following areas:
Morning Worship
5 teachers for Drama, Snack, Craft, Games, Video
Afternoon Worship
Afternoon Craft
Afternoon Work Project
Afternoon Play Supervision
Classes are 20 minutes each and the curriculum is already prepared. Teaching is very similar to the current Ark program we are using for church school. VBS – July 13-17 – 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
If you can help in any of these areas or would like more information, please contact Steve or Mako Kanzaki, (H) 425-776-7701 or (C) 206-619-9514. Any time you can give will be greatly appreciated.
LOOKING FOR FOOD BANK GARDENERS!!
Our church is becoming very involved in the local food banks and here is one more way you can contribute. If you like gardening or just like to play in the dirt, we are planning to construct some raised beds in the fenced area outside the nursery. Let me know if this is something you’d like to help with. We would like to donate to the Rainier Valley Food Bank after harvesting. Also, if you like to grow your own fruit trees or vegetables at home and would consider providing your over-abundance to the Rainier Valley Food Bank in the late summer/fall, let me know. More information will be in the May newsletter. Please contact me for further discussion. I’d like to find out how much interest there is in this topic as we get more involved.
