APRIL COLLECTION – COOKIES FOR KAIROS
The Cookies for Kairos project just completed this past Friday so we will have results in next week’s announcements. This ecumenical group conducts spiritual seminars twice a year at several Washington State correctional facilities. Each attendee receives a dozen “prayed over” homemade cookies each day they attend the seminar. Thank you all for your continued participation in this worthwhile ministry.

SKIP A LUNCH; SEND A NET; SAVE A LIFE – TODAY
When you go to sleep at night, mosquitoes are the least of your worries. But life is different in Africa, where mosquitoes spread malaria, the continent’s number one killer of children under age 5. The disease claims a child every 30 seconds – that’s nearly 3,000 children every day. The good news is that you can save one of those lives by providing a bed net through the Nothing But Nets campaign. And all it takes is $10 – the price of a lunch out. Let’s join the campaign! Envelopes are provided in your program. For details, see www.umcnothingbutnets.org.

Looking for Food Bank Gardeners!!
Our church is becoming very involved in the local food banks and here is one more way you can contribute. If you like gardening or just like to play in the dirt, we are planning to construct some raised beds in the fenced area outside the nursery. Let me know if this is something you’d like to help with. We would like to donate to the Rainier Valley Food Bank after harvesting. Also, if you like to grow your own fruit trees or vegetables at home and would consider providing your over-abundance to the Rainier Valley Food Bank in the late summer/fall, let me know. More information will be in the May newsletter. Please contact me for further discussion. I’d like to find out how much interest there is in this topic as we get more involved.
