MARCH Collection – Rainier Valley Food Bank
Food items most needed by the Rainier Valley Food Bank include high protein, healthy foods, such as: canned chicken, tuna and salmon, hearty meat soups and stews, dry and canned beans, peanut butter, pasta and rice, oatmeal, dried fruits, Ensure and other nutritional supplement drinks, and baby food and formula. Monetary donations or gift cards are also appreciated since this allows the food bank to buy bulk items more economically. Place your donation in the bin at the entrance to the LAC gym or in the Narthex. Let’s share a vision of the world (and our own communities) without hunger!
ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING SPECIAL OFFERING-TODAY
Gifts to One Great Hour of Sharing lay the foundation of all of UMCOR’s work by covering the costs of doing business. This means that all gifts designated to specific programs can go 100% to that program because UMCOR’S basic expenses are covered. Please give generously in the envelope provided.
ALL CHURCH WORK PARTY – TODAY
Please come join the combined worship on March 29 with service in mind. After the 10:00 am joint worship service in the Sanctuary, we will clean as much as possible of the church; inside and out, yards and parking. There will be tasks for all ages and gender. We pray for an abundance of people power. If you forgot to dress accordingly, we have a couple t-shirts (M/L) to wear. Lunch will be provided.
PRAYER ROOM AVAILABLE
During Lent, please visit one of three prayer rooms available for prayer: Kono Chapel, the Archives (Room 204 in the Ed Wing), or the Library. Prayer triads might want to use these spaces for group prayer. There is also space in the top floor stairwell of the Lee Center that is a good space for solo prayer. We hope you might find these places to be an oasis during the Lenten season.
NEW TESTAMENT BIBLE STUDY
The New Testament Bible Study is ongoing on Sundays at 12:15 pm and on Mondays at 10:00 am. There is always room for anyone wanting to attend either class. Just show up even if you missed the beginning classes or see Rev. Kathleen if you have any questions.
SEDER MEAL ON MAUNDY THURSDAY – APRIL 9th
The Seder Meal Service will be on Thursday, April 9, at 6:30 pm. Please sign up in the Social Hall during lunch or call the church office.
NIKKEI CONFERENCE – APRIL 17th-19th
Mission to Ontario. The Apostle Paul is best known for his letters and his journeys throughout the Mediterranean region. He went to spread “the good news” and to visit the young Christian churches (to encourage and to advise). We are the Apostle Paul among Northwest Nikkei United Methodist Churches. I invite you to make this missionary journey to Ontario. Registration has begun; for more information see Kenji Onishi.
